Summary
In this second program on Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Bosnian War, we look at a number of SAGA films produced while Bosnia was under siege between1992 and1993, including Sarajevo Ground Zero I. We meet Hrvoje Batinic of the Open Society Fund as he reads a quote while standing in the midst of war-created ruins. We listen to Pulitzer Prize winner and NY Times' foreign correspondent John Burns' voice as he describes the devastation that he sees while traveling through the once crowded streets. Bosnian producer and director Ademir Kenovic tells his story, as does American Tony Borden, editor of the Balkan War Report, now renamed the Institute for War & Peace Reporting. The late writer and political activist Susan Sontag, along with humanitarian Fred Cuny, who mysteriously disappeared in Chechnya while seeking to negotiate a ceasefire, give their thoughts on the war. The late Bosnian director Zlatko Lavanic and Bosnian filmmaker Daniela Gogic also appear in this program that throws you directly into the deserted streets and horrific sights and sounds of the war in Bosnia
