Summary
Buenos Aires is in the heart of a country where 80 per cent of the people are Catholic and the culture of machismo is still rife. Now the Argentinean capital is leading the push in Latin America to bring equality to gays. It is the first city in South America where same sex couples can join in a civil union giving gay coupes full health and insurance benefits, but no inheritance or adoption rights. We meet Esteban Hubner and Leonardo Gorosito who are getting married. "It is to dignify each other" says Leo. "To build something we want to share with people we love and with friends." The introduction of such civil unions has met with opposition from the Church. "We can be understanding and charitable toward homosexuals but we re going to clearly defend the natural character in a union of marriage between a man and a woman," says the local Archbishop
