Summary
Opposition to the military government in the Asian country of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, and the human rights issues associated with it are discussed in this historic program. Interviews with military resistance leaders, refugees, forced laborers, and human rights activists, including Nai Min Htut, a leader for the Mon National Army; Sally Thompson of the Burma Border Consortium; forced laborers Hte Aung, Nai Maung Sein, and Mai Ai Pon; refugee Tin Myint; Gen. Saw Bomya, President of the Karen National Union; and Dr. Myint Chu of the Burma Students' Federation tell of the horrors suffered by the Burmese people under this government. Kenneth Roth, Executive Director of Human Rights Watch, explains the challenges of human rights' activists, and we see clips from undercover footage showing Burmese slaves at work. Finally, former US House of Representative Bill Richardson tells of his trip to Burma and what he sees as the problems there
