- Summary
- There's a border drawn upon the seas between North and South Korea, remnants of the nightmare of war 60 years ago. The Northern Limit Line (NLL) is a border between those who wish to guard it and those who wish to break it, a border connecting the past as well as the present. In 1999, the first hostility interrupted the quiet divide since the Korean War, and the border's inception in 1953. The war had stopped without victory or defeat. What exactly happened on the western seas of Korea? To answer this question we must go back in time, back to the line of fire. In November of 2011, 170 North Korean shells struck the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong. Soldiers and civilians alike were killed and injured, with hundreds of homes burnt to the ground. Civilians fled and deserted the island out of fear. Today, the island is resident only to soldiers and wildlife. Part two examines the other species of life that are free to breed and travel between the two Koreas, unlike men, who have drawn a line above the waters to forbid any movement across it
