Pineapple Cloth- In the Philippines, pineapple is not just a fruit. For centuries the fine fibres of its leaves have been used for making cloth for traditional garments. Women of Aklan Province carry on the practice today. It takes them almost a month to create one metre of the fabric. For most women in the town of Kalibo, sitting at a loom is a rite of passage. Mud Volcano- Nature gives, and nature takes. Near the city of Surabaya on Indonesia's island of Java, since 2006 a mud volcano has continuously spewed mud and toxic fumes in an ongoing environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. Also on Java, in the Grobogan region, another mud volcano, by contrast, delivers a welcome bounty to local people. Taiping Four Gorillas- It had taken five years and an international tussle, but the Taiping Four were about to go home at last. At south Africa's Pretoria zoo, where they had been pulling big crowds, preparations were underway to send one male and three female Western Lowland gorillas back to their native Cameroon. Body Heat- Stockholm's central station is the largest in Sweden, and the largest travel centre in the Nordic region. Every day one quarter of a million people swarm through the beautiful 19th century building, collectively giving off a lot of body heat. Mastodon- Recently at a dig in northern Greece, paleontologists were excited to find what they believed were the tusks of a very large prehistoric Mastodon. The three million year old tusks are five metres in length. They're now on display at the small natural history museum in Milia Village, near where they were found. Flood Defence- On the banks of the Humber Estuary in Lincolnshire, northern England, rising tide levels have become a major concern. To reduce the risk of massive flooding, Britain's Environment Agency has undertaken one of the largest flood storage schemes in Europe, knocking a 20 metre breach into existing flood defences
