Summary
The ""Odessa"" is a cruise liner that once belonged to the proud fleet of the Black Sea. For the past five years, the Odessa has been forced to remain immobile at quayside in the port of Naples. The captain and his reduced crew have remained on board without drinking water nor electricity, and without pay. Day after day, they go through the motions, taking care of the chores that have saved the vessel. They live through hope and despair, an endless (and ultimately useless) waiting...This is the surrealistic story of a handful of men who fell victim to the pitiless laws of economy. Although they are sailors first and foremost, their story has its roots in their homeland, the Ukraine, which in turn has been shaken up in the aftermath of the historical earthquake that was the break-up of the former Soviet Union
