Summary
On December 17 2004, one of the greatest works of art ever constructed on European soil was opened. All records were broken by this viaduct that exceeds the height of the Eiffel Tower and required 206,000 tonnes of concrete, 36,000 tonnes of steel and cost 300 million euros. When work was at its height more than 600 people were present on the site. In 3 years to the very day, the highest stayed-girder bridge in the world, headed by the British architect Sir Norman Foster, was raised over the deep valley of the Tarn, between the Causse Rouge and the Causse du Larzac. This human adventure and technical feat enthralled the whole France
