American President Bill Clinton was embarrassed by allegations of a relationship with White House Intern Monica Lewinsky. The lies continued into the new year, prompting an impeachment trial in early 1999. Later, Clinton had other matters on his mind, when the US and Britain started air strikes on Iraq, saying Baghdad would never co-operate with Arms Inspectors.
