- Solar Solo- You might think travelling by solar taxi would be problematic when the sun refuses to shine. But Louis Palmer is a man on a mission. The 35 Year old Swiss is spending 16 months driving sixty thousand kilometres around the world in his solar-powered vehicle, and is well prepared for any contingency. The Green Shop- It might look like just a petrol station, but this is the green shop, the UK's leading source of eco-friendly products. From organic foods, through natural paints to solar power systems, the green Shop's got it covered. Yangtze Dolphin- According to a survey by an International research team, the Yangtze River Dolphin in China has recently become extinct. Long threatened, the dolphin, or Baiji, was Last spotted in the wild in 2002. The last Baiji in captivity died the same Year. India Wind Power- The winds of change are whispering through parts of rural India. Sinban in Western India is home to more than 500 hectares of massive windmills set amid tiny farms. The hi-tech wind farm is one of the largest in the world, helping reduce India's dependence on coal-powered electricity. Over 500 windmills generate more than 600 megawatts of electricity. Robot Trash/Yoghurt Pots- Learning the 3 Rs takes on a different meaning in UK schools where children are taught to reduce, reuse and recycle. Helping spread the word is an unusual recruit--Recycler, the Robot. Backed by several UK recycling organizations, Recycler is on a whirlwind tour of schools, rapping and entertaining the children as they learn about managing waste. Argentina Soy Fuel- A young Argentine engineer has developed a biodiesel processing plant that offers some interesting solutions for the nation's farmers. From 12,000 tonnes of soybeans, Edmundo Defferrari can produce 1400 litres of biodiesel with a byproduct of more than 10,000 tonnes of animal feed per day. With the price of crude oil for the first time passing soybean, palm and rapeseed oil, the equation changes very much for Argentina's biggest users, the farmers. Polar Troubles- The effect on the polar ecosystem is potentially catastrophic. Seals, polar bears, walruses, all are dependent on the ice for their survival. So too are the tiny shrimp-like krill, an important food source for penguins and even whales
