Greenhouse Barge- Showing New Yorkers how is this travelling greenhouse barge which grows enough vegetables to supply 25 people for one year. Its designer hopes that it will encourage residents to use the city's 5,000 hectares of rooftops to create their own vegetable gardens. Newspaper Handbags- When part of the Manila's Smokey Mountain Rubbish Dump area was redeveloped for low-cost housing, these women decided to find a new source of income. Turning misfortune into opportunity, they got together and formed a small co-operative, transforming discarded newspaper into fashionable handbags. Amazon School- The western corner of Brazil's Amazon forest is where the isolated Ashaninka Indians have lived for over 400 years. They have opened their own indigenous school, passing on tribal knowledge through environmental projects and food production, as well as offering aid to other indigenous groups of the forest. The objective is to teach Amazon residents how to make a living without harming the environment. Bubble Baby/Buses- Big smoke. Heavy vehicles transporting goods we want. Toxic fumes fuelling diseases We don't. The fear of respiratory illnesses including asthma has prompted many precautions. For young Lloyd it's the bubble, a protective cocoon that fits over his stroller. Designed to keep out pollution it's a safeguard Lloyd's parents feel is worth taking. Uganda Biofuels/Coconuts- In a world increasingly concerned about carbon dioxide emissions, the use of clean, renewable fuels is a growing trend. Biofuels, produced from plant sources such as palm oil, are becoming very popular and lucrative. Israel Dung Power- In the heart of Israel's agricultural region, cow manure from local dairy farms is being used to generate electricity. Using technology imported from Holland, the facility is the first of its kind in Israel, and the largest in the world. Dominican Whales- Leaving the cold waters of the North Atlantic, 80% of the worlds humpback whales travel thousands of kilometres in the annual trek for the mating season. And from all around the globe, flocking to the same Caribbean waters are the whale-watchers, groups of tourists keen to catch a glimpse of the Humpbacks, one of the largest animals in the world
